Description
IW1000, Isolation Monitor
The isolation guard IW1000 will be used for insulation monitoring in machines and systems with ungrounded voltage systems. The universal design allows the monitoring of all AC and DC systems.
Usual insulation monitors, which work according to the pulse measuring method, work with a fixed pulse width. This must then be adjusted manually to the discharge capacities. There are also devices in which the pulse width adapts automatically, but with the disadvantage that the measurement time for calculating the insulation resistance and the leakage capacitance only ends when the charging process has subsided. Since this is only the case after 5-6 time constants Tau, long measurement times can result. With the time-optimized measuring method of the IW1000, the insulation resistance and leakage capacitance are calculated after 2 time constants.
Rectified fault currents can e.g. be caused by an insulation fault in a switched-mode power supply. This constant component of the leakage currents can also occur without insulation faults with asymmetrical loading of the positive and negative half-waves. For example, for power control with power controllers that work in phase control (dimmer) or as zero point switches (SSR relays). Even with frequency converters, relatively high directional leakage currents flow due to the steep switching of the system voltage.
With the time-optimized pulse measurement method of the IW1000, direct voltage components on the discharge capacitors are automatically calculated by superimposing a positive and a negative voltage pulse and then calculating the difference.
This measurement method is therefore suitable for AC, AC / DC and pure DC systems.
The insulation monitor is available in various versions for the supply voltage (please select when ordering!)
